Guess Who's Coming to Birmingham?

So last year we had a con in Birmingham, AL. It was a first year con with around three thousand attendees (which is pretty much unheard of for a first year con). This year, Birmingham has a new con (ImagiCon) and it's been put together by a bunch of great folks who want to make sure Birmingham has its own convention... which... since I *live* in Birmingham, I am all about, too. :)

They almost skipped a year and launched the con in 2010, but even with the short turnaround, they have some cool people coming:

On the Lit Track: Sherrilyn Kenyon will be back (WOOT!), as will Christina Barber, Alan Gilbreath, M.B. Weston, The Wandering Men (I still need to blog about those guys) and yours truly. Debut authors Jeannie Holmes and Stephanie Osborn will also be there along with short story writer (and aspiring novelist) Shelly Li.

There are other guests on the list and you can find them here or you can just go to http://imagicon.org and check out all the guests and events these guys have planned.

So if you're in Birmingham March 27-29, 2009. Come on by and see us. There will be copies of ReVamped in the dealer's rooom and I might be convinced to read a short story or... even an excerpt from the current draft of book 3.

Who knows?

My wife and I will be there, Jeremy. (We couldn't attend last year due to it being so close to our wedding.)

I was wondering. Are you taking part in any panels or workshops?

Awesome news, Bill!

As far as I know, I will be on panels. I assume there will be a vampire panel with Sherrilyn, Alan, Christina, Jeannie, and me but beyond that I'm not sure.

Do you have any ideas for panels/workshops you'd like to see?

Yeah, there are a few things I would like to see. One subject that I am fascinated about is World Building.

I am particular intrigued by how you approached it with Void City. Living here in Birmingham, I couldn’t help but to imagine the Alabama Theatre when Staked took us to the Pollux Theatre. I would love to hear about how you took the real world and turned it into your very own fictional landscape

More important that this, however, I would really love to attend a panel or workshop that takes us, the newbie, from a complete, presentable novel manuscript sitting on our desk to a potential agents and beyond. That is still a very mysterious process for me, regardless of how much I’ve read.

Thanks, Jeremy.

No worries, sir. Thanks for the suggestions!

If the programming folks can't fit the panels in, then maybe we can get together at the con and I can give ya my tiny little bit of insight.

I think they lock the program book on Sunday, so if anyone else is going to be there and *knows* they want a panel on something, toss it out and I'll see what I can do. :)

That all sounds great, Jeremy. Thank you!

Jeremy, I'm so excited that you'll be at ImagiCon, too! I can't wait to see you and your family! I hope we're on a few panels together this year!

Right back at ya! :)

[M.B. Weston is in da house!]

I don't know what panels I'm on yet. (There was some last minute confusion, but Tom, Kate, and Abby all pitched in to get it sorted) As soon as I know, I'll post my schedule.

Just pre-ordered my copy of Revamped, Jeremy. (Thank you, Amazon.)

Really looking forward to it.
